Flooring and Subfloor Services in Surrey, New Westminster, Burnaby, North Vancouver, Coquitlam, Langley & Vancouver, BC Canada
Flooring and subflooring are very important components of a home. They are a big aesthetic to the various rooms and are important for a variety of reasons. If you have a floor that seems a little squishy, you might have a subflooring problem. Subflooring can become wet for a variety of reasons and over time rot out. We see this a lot in bathrooms. Bathrooms are high in moisture and because of that, you need to use flooring that can deal with that moisture. However, some contractors or DIYers didn't get that memo and the floor that wasn't made for the moisture is now rotted.
While this might seem like a major problem to you, it really is pretty easy to fix. We offer flooring and subflooring services to assist homeowners with whatever they might need fixed or put down. Perhaps you started a project and quickly realized that you are in over your head. Maybe you need the subflooring and flooring installed for a shed or other building. Not a problem.
The different types of flooring
There are different types of flooring that we offer for installation. While tile and wood flooring have become very popular in recent years. There are also epoxy flooring and stained concrete for the basement of your home. We also can do carpeting and vinyl. Let's take a look at these different types to determine which is best in your situation. Remember, many of these flooring types can mimic other types of flooring as well.
Wood flooring installation
Wood flooring comes in a couple of different styles from solid wood to laminate wood. While solid wood is what many people love the look and sound of, it is much more costly than laminate and it doesn't hold up as well. Solid wood is beautiful but laminate can be equally beautiful and far less cost. Besides that, laminate is more durable as well as can be made water-resistant and waterproof. There is a difference and the difference is important depending on where this flooring is going to go in.
If you are looking at flooring the bathroom, you will want something that is waterproof. A bathroom should not have solid wood flooring as it is not meant to hold up under that must moisture. The wood would absorb the moisture and start to expand. This expansion will cause buckling and breaking of the beautiful flooring.
Kitchens, bedrooms, living rooms, and dining rooms are all great candidates for the installation of hardwood flooring of both types. Take into consideration how much traffic the area gets. If it is a super high traffic area then laminate, again, might be the better choice. However, if you are a small family and don't have high traffic then either would hold up fine under these circumstances.
Carpeting installation
Carpeting installation offers you more plush flooring. This is usually used in living rooms, bedrooms, and dining rooms. You do not want carpeting in your bathroom. It is hard to clean, not to mention it will hold in the water and rot your subfloor. While there are some indoor-outdoor carpeting available, there are so many better flooring options for the bathroom. You might want to consider vinyl, certain laminate, or tiles. We will get into those a little later.
Carpeting, like anything else, will come in different levels of quality. If you plan to stay in your home for many years to come, then this is really important. However, if you don't plan to stay and are renovating only to improve the look of the home to flip in a few years, then you can pretty much go with any carpet that you please.
We recommend going with a neutral carpet color. For example, in the 70s it was popular to put down green and orange carpet, which was quickly outdated in the 80s. Your flooring is an investment that you probably don't want to change out every few years, so go with what you know you'll love for a long time. Also, keep in mind how much traffic, again, that this flooring is going to take and let your contractor know about that as well.
Vinyl Flooring
There are various ways that vinyl flooring comes and the installation of the vinyl flooring can be different with each different way. But, vinyl flooring is some of the toughest floorings out there. If you have high traffic areas, then vinyl would be a great choice. Vinyl in the form of linoleum has been used in kitchens and bathrooms for generations. This is because it is so waterproof and durable. Vinyl flooring is easy to clean and holds up nicely for years to come. Not to mention, vinyl flooring is some of the most inexpensive floorings out there.
Vinyl flooring can come in a laminate wood type look as well as linoleum that mimics wood. This offers a great aesthetic at a fraction of the cost of wood.
Epoxy Flooring
While we have an entire page dedicated to epoxy flooring your garage floor. Epoxy flooring is great for basements and slab foundation homes. Epoxy is very durable for flooring and can be made up to be very beautiful. While we all might be thinking that epoxy only comes in some solid and maybe some flaked designs, there are a million ways that you could make an epoxy floor look amazing. Epoxy flooring is very durable and waterproof so it too is good for the bathroom and kitchens as well as entryways and outdoor porches.
Tile Flooring Installation
Tile comes in a wide variety of designs, materials, and colors. There are ceramic tiles, porcelain tiles, natural stone tiles, and even vinyl tiles. Tiles of the fewer materials are made to mimic that of the more expensive materials. This gives your home the aesthetic look that you have always wanted at a fraction of the cost. Typically the less priced tiles are also the most durable, go figure.
