GUTTER CLEANING, REPAIR & INSTALLATION SERVICES
Need Gutter Cleaning, Repair, or Installation Services in Surrey, New Westminster, Burnaby, North Vancouver, Coquitlam, Langley & Vancouver, BC
Gutter cleaning, repair, and installation services assist homeowners in getting their gutters up and running properly. While some people might think that installing gutters is a pretty easy task, it actually involves quite a bit of math. Your gutters should be able to handle the amount of rainfall you have in your area. They need to be sized for the surface area of your roof or you will have problems down the line.
Water moves at the path of least resistance, so they will also have to have a slight angle to them, moving the water down to the down spigots. This allows the gutters to perform properly. While there needs to be an angle, you certainly don't want your gutters looking ridiculous. This is why you hire professionals to install your gutter system. This will save you so much time and head and it can be done in no time. However, we have watched homeowners attempt and they simply don't have the right tools and ladders to do that job in an effective and efficient manner. They get done and their gutters have a downhill slope alright, which looks ridiculous. Don't do that you home and embarrass your family, call someone you can trust.
Get your gutters cleaned
Gutters can get filled with some nasty smelling debris. This will stop the gutters from working properly. We have even found nests from pests in the gutters of homes, which is never a pleasant surprise. When your gutters don't work, the water will run off the roof and work its way to the foundation of your home. This is never a good thing. You need to do something about this, such as call on the professionals to clean your gutters and get them working properly again.
While we do clean and install new gutters we also repair gutters as well. Over time the brackets and other components can age and get twisted with storms and the wind. A bracket might come loose or fall off altogether. Maybe a storm came through and your gutters took a beating. Whatever the case may be, we are happy to help. We have the tools and knowledge to get your brackets and gutter system up and working properly so you don't have to worry about foundation damage.
What are gutters and why do we need them?
Gutters are found on the side of your home at the roofline. They are there to catch rainwater and divert it away from the foundation of the home. If they were not there, the rainwater would run off the roof to the footing of the home. While some don't see a problem with this, if you have a basement or crawl space, that water can seep in and evaporate causing humidity in the home. Humidity combined with the heat will cause mildew and mold issues. It can also evaporate and then find its way to cooler spots where it will begin to condensate. While having moisture on the windows isn't really a huge issue, it isn't just the windows that it will condensate on. The walls are also a problem.
If that moisture makes it inside the walls of the home it could cause water damage and fungal wood rot. Both are expensive repairs that really could have been prevented with some gutters.
Gutters divert rainwater away from your foundation
The function of a gutter is to divert rainwater away from the home. There are downpipes that the water will run down and typically along the ground for a bit before coming out. These downpipes are called downspouts and are the verticle sections that you see coming off from the horizontal components that run along the roof edge. They are usually made of aluminum and are found at the end f your roof eaves.
You should at least visually inspect your gutter systems at least once a year to ensure that they are fully intact and not full of debris. If you have nearby trees you most likely will have to clean your gutters each spring and again in the fall after the majority of leaves have fallen. This will ensure that your gutter systems are working properly and you are not setting yourself up for problems later on down the road.
Let us clean your gutters
When cleaning your gutters you should inspect them for any broken components and leaks. The leaks are usually found around where sections are connected. If you have seamless gutters then this will most likely not be a problem. Seamless gutters are gutters that are made by a special machine custom to your home. This allows them to use a continuous roll of aluminum and make them the right size and shape for your home.
You really want to keep this rainwater away from the foundation of your home. You can do this as a DIY project by getting a downspout extender or rain barrels if your gutter system is older and isn't making the water far enough away from the home. Downspout extenders can be found at just about any hardware store. Rain barrels might be found at a farming store as well. You just need something that will catch the water. This will keep it from getting into the ground and ultimately into your home.
Gutter Materials
The material that most gutters are made from is aluminum. However, they have been made from other materials as well. Steel, for example, is a less costly option. But it always tends to rust and Stainless steel is too hard to shape into the gutter shapes. If you have a high-end home or a home that has a historical look some have put copper gutters on their home. Copper prices go into play here and that is a very expensive option. Vinyl is also a good option for gutters. They used to crack and have issues with the environment but have certainly improved over the years.
If you don't want to worry about your gutters, then you might want to look at getting what they call gutter guards. Gutter guards are guards that go over your gutters to keep the leaves and debris out of the gutters. We also install those as well.
