This is where you can get a rain barrel, which can found at a hardware store or perhaps a feed store. These are plastic barrels that will collect the rainwater from your downspout. This will ensure that the water is collected and not going into the ground to cause issues. This water is actually really great for watering your garden or flower beds.
You could also get a spout extender, another device that can be found at the hardware store. These simply clip onto the end of the last component of your downspout and carry the water further out into the yard. Think of an extension hose per se.
Check your gutters once a year for damage
While gutters are indeed needed, many times they go neglected. If you have gutters and trees, it is especially important that you check on them. They easily fill up with the leaves from the trees and nuts and can certainly get clogged. Because of this, you need to ensure that they are cleaned out regularly.
